Hannah Taylor, Head of Marketing – Europe

To give you a slice of life in the CMC Markets marketing team, we talk to Hannah Taylor, Head of Marketing for Europe, about her typical day

My alarm goes off:
I get up at 6.10am and usually do yoga before work. I get in at about 8.15am and usually have breakfast (cereal is provided for everyone). I’m responsible for all brand marketing activity across Europe.

The best part of my job:
It’s probably the fact that I get to work with lots of different parts of the business and get involved with lots of different projects. The other great thing is that marketing is really valued at CMC Markets, which means that lots of ideas start in the marketing department. That makes it a really exciting place to work.

The thing I’m most proud of:
I like it when we launch an advert or campaign and you come in the next day and can see that visits to the site are up or actions you want a customer to take are up. It’s also nice when you see your work in print and on TV.

Why work in the CMC marketing department?:
We’re a company that really encourages you to try new things and take risks. If you’ve got an idea and you can prove its commercial viability, you can make it happen. That’s really empowering as a marketer. The other big thing is that you come into our office and everyone is really passionate about what we do, plus there are some great personalities within the team.

My typical day:
There isn’t really a typical day as my diary is full of lots of different things. If I’m working on a campaign, I’ll be in kick-off meetings or design briefings; I’ll be chatting to our agencies about targeting and media schedules; having one-to-ones with my team or analysing the performance in our European region.

After work:
I love eating out, so maybe trying a new restaurant. Or, if I’m staying in, it has to be Netflix I’m afraid.
