AM I ELIGIBLE FOR AN ACCREDITED INVESTOR ACCOUNT?
To be eligible for an Accredited Investor account, you need to meet the accredited investor eligibility criteria. If you answer yes to one of these three questions, you could be eligible for an Accredited Investor account.

1. What is an Accredited Investor (AI) in CFD trading?
An Accredited Investor in Singapore refers to an individual whose:
a) Net personal assets exceed S$2,000,000 in value, of which no more than S$1,000,000 in value is contributed by the net estimated fair market value of the individual’s primary residence;
b) Financial assets (net of any related liabilities) exceed S$1,000,000 in value; or income in the preceding 12 months is not less than S$300,000.
2. Why should I apply to be an Accredited Investor?
a) Qualified Accredited Investors are able to continue to use the current level of margin rates when trading FX CFDs after the higher margin rules kick in in October 2019.
b) Upon declaring as an Accredited Investor, a client’s personal information and AI status will be held solely within the brokerage firm and will not be shared with other financial institutions.
3. How to apply to be an Accredited Investor?
If you’re new to CMC Markets and don’t have an existing CFD trading account, you will need to apply for an account:
a) On our website; or
b) By calling us on 1800 559 6000; or
c) By emailing support@cmcmarkets.com.sg
If you’re an existing client with a CFD trading account, you can:
a) Download the AI opt-in form here and email the completed copy to support@cmcmarkets.com.sg; or

4. How do I prove that I qualify to be an Accredited Investor?
There are no standard documents required to opt-in as AI. Dependent on which of the 2 criteria is met, the proof submitted will differ. In the case of annual income, we accept your income tax statement or payslip. As for net assets, examples of documents we can accept are title deed or bank account balance. 5. What protections are available to Accredited Investors?

6. What protections do Accredited Investors NOT get?
As an Accredited Investor with CMC Markets, you will not be subject to the same leverage restrictions for FX trading as retail clients. Higher leverage can amplify losses.

7. Why do I need to open an account before I can become an Accredited Investor?
Only clients who are new to CMC Markets will need to first open a standard CFD trading account before applying to be an Accredited Investor. You will be able to opt in on the application form if you fulfil the eligibility criteria.
If you already have a CFD trading account with us and think you may be eligible, you can apply to be an Accredited Investor by downloading and completing the opt-in form.
8. Do I have to provide documented proof to be recognised as an Accredited Investor every year?
No, this isn't necessary unless it was declared in your annual review that you no longer meet the criteria, or if you indicated you would like to opt out, or we required you to provide documented proof when we review your account periodically.
9. How will I know when I’ve been switched from a standard account to that of an Accredited Investor?
An email will be sent to you once your application has been approved.
For existing clients who are becoming an Accredited Investor, your login details, account number and platform settings will remain the same.
While waiting for your Accredited Investor account, you can still trade on your standard account. Your new FX margins will be changed immediately upon approval of your Accredited Investor account.
10. What if I’m not eligible for an Accredited Investor account?
You can still trade on thousands of financial instruments on our award-winning platform, using a standard CMC Markets account. The margin rates for forex products are subject to change after October 2019 for non-Accredited Investor accounts.
