Getting started with TradingView and CMC Markets

What is TradingView?

TradingView is a comprehensive trading platform that provides real-time data, customizable charts, and technical analysis tools with an intuitive and user-friendly interface, allowing traders to precisely track financial instruments with an extensive library of indicators and drawing tools.

TradingView also doubles as a dynamic social network, where users can share trading ideas, strategies, and market outlooks through public posts.

By connecting your CMC Markets account to TradingView, you can trade with CMC Markets’ tight spreads using TradingView’s charts and analysis tools.

Market data for chart activity in TradingView

To trade CFDs on shares with us through TradingView, you may need to activate a market data subscription in our trading platform.

To do this, log in to your live account on our web platform, go to ‘Settings’, select ‘Market Data’ and select the country (or group of countries) whose stocks you’d like to trade. A text box will then pop up. Read the on-screen information and click ‘Activate’, click ‘Yes’ if you agree to the subscription terms and conditions, and click ‘OK’ to close the pop-up. You should now see a green tick next to the country that you selected.

If you don’t open any CFD trades on shares from the country you selected, you will need to reactivate your market data subscription each month in order to see share price data in TradingView. Many market data subscriptions are free, but in some cases a fee may apply.

How to set up and use alerts

Within your selected chart, you can set up alerts by selecting the alarm clock icon. Choose to be notified of changes in price or volume and set a range of other variables.
