What is TradingView?
TradingView is a trading research platform where you can view charts, analyse trends and interact with an online community. Additionally, you can connect your TradingView account to your CMC Markets account, enabling you to open, manage and close trades within TradingView.
Is TradingView free?
It’s free to sign up to TradingView’s ‘Basic’ plan, which may be a good option for beginners. Paid plans that give active traders access to additional features start from £12.95 a month and come with the option of a free, 30-day trial.
Is Tradingview safe?
According to its website, TradingView is used by over 100 million traders and investors worldwide. TradingView states on its support page that they don’t process any payments themselves, and they don’t store or have access to your payment details. When you trade with us through TradingView, you’ll handle payment processes such as funding and withdrawals on our trading platform, which is compliant with the security standards of the payment card industry.
Can I make deposits and withdrawals through TradingView?
No. You must make deposits into and withdrawals from your CMC account on our trading platform. Any deposits or withdrawals you make with us will automatically show in your TradingView interface.
Which CMC Markets accounts can I connect to TradingView?
You can connect your TradingView account to a CFD trading or FX Active account that you hold with us. You cannot connect TradingView to your MetaTrader account.
How do I connect to my CMC Markets account through TradingView?
Go to TradingView, select the CMC Markets broker profile, and select ‘Trade’. You will then see the option to connect to your CMC Markets account. Enter your CMC Markets username and password and complete the connection.
Can I manage my trades outside TradingView?
Yes, you can. Once you’ve connected your TradingView account to your CMC Markets account, your trading activity will be synchronised. This means you’ll be able to see and manage all of your trades with us when you log into TradingView, our web platform or our mobile app, regardless of which one you used to place the trade.
Are all CMC Markets instruments supported on TradingView?
To do this, log in to our web platform, go to ‘Settings’, select ‘Market Data’ and select the country (or group of countries) whose stocks or share baskets you’d like to trade. A text box will then pop up. Read the on-screen information and select ‘Activate’, select ‘Yes’ if you agree to the subscription details, and select ‘OK’ to close the pop-up. You should now see a green tick next to the country or countries that you selected. If you don’t open any trades on shares from the country or countries you selected, you will need to reactivate your market data subscription each month in order to see share price data in TradingView.
Most market data subscriptions are free, but in some cases a fee may apply. At the time of writing (March 2025), the only market data subscription that carries a fee is for Australian shares (A$24 a month).
Where can I get help using TradingView and CMC Markets?
If you have any questions about TradingView, you might find the answer on their customer support page. You should not contact TradingView to discuss any matters relating to your trading account.
If you need help using your CMC Markets account or our trading platform, you can contact our customer service team whenever the markets are open, from Sunday night through to Friday night. Email us at global@cmcmarkets.com or call us on (UK) +44 20 7170 8200.
Is it free to open an account with CMC Markets?
You can open a free demo account with us to practise trading in a risk-free environment using virtual funds. When you’re ready to step up to a live CFD trading or FX Active account, there’s no upfront cost to pay and you can use your account to view charts, see market prices, and read Reuters news and Morningstar reports free of charge. However, you will need to add funds to your live account to place a trade, and certain fees – such as overnight holding costs – may apply.
Is CMC Markets licensed by the Bermuda Monetary Authority?
Yes, CMC Markets is licensed and regulated by the Bermuda Monetary Authority. Retail client money is held in segregated client bank accounts and money held on behalf of clients is distributed across a range of major banks, which are regularly assessed against our risk criteria.
How does CMC Markets segregate client money?
Under client money regulations, we're required to segregate client money from our own funds (unless you make an agreement with us otherwise). The money held in segregated bank accounts does not belong to us and will be held in a way that enables it to be identified as client money.
