How do you champion women in work in your team?

It’s my job to ensure the women in our team are comfortable showing their authentic selves in the workplace so they can build a strong personal brand for visibility within the business. For me, this means emphasising a team culture of support, facilitating skills sharing between women, and providing training and mentorship so that the team is confident that they can get the job done.

Highlighting our work is hugely important for the visibility of each woman in my team. We regularly communicate key projects and initiatives to the wider business. Each woman in my team is responsible for managing their relationships with stakeholders to build robust networks across CMC Markets.

For me, the most important thing is making sure the women in my team feel empowered to bring their best selves to work so that they can do their best work.

Why is diversity important?

Market movements create endless opportunities for us as marketers but also means we can never take what works for granted. We’re always innovating our approach and trialling new methods or channels to remain agile within a fast-changing industry.

Having a diverse team helps us to challenge the status quo and think creatively. A diverse team also provides a variety of perspectives that we can lean on to make considered decisions and problem solve issues quickly. This is hugely important if we want to keep up with the pace of the financial markets.

What advice do you have for women looking for a career within you your field?

No two days are the same when you’re working in the financial markets. It’s fast-paced, ever-changing, and constantly evolving. This is exciting, but also means we’re often required to adapt to changing market landscapes. Therefore, being comfortable with change is key in our team.

Strong relationships are so important in marketing. We collaborate with other departments, agencies, and specialists to get projects out the door. It’s our job to ensure the approach is consistent across all channels to create a seamless experience for our clients. This is amplified when the markets are moving and if it’s crunch, good communication skills will help to get projects across the line.

Otherwise, it’s just a matter of diving in and giving it a go. What are you waiting for?
