The Italy 40 is based on Italy’s leading stock market index, which contains the largest and most liquid companies trading on the country’s main equity market, the Borsa Italiana. The index is market capitalisation-weighted and considered an effective indicator of general economic performance. Examples of constituent blue-chip shares include Ferrari, UniCredit, Atlantia, Eni, Campari and Juventus Football Club, which act as benchmarks for their industries.
