Read on to discover everything you need to know about trading with CMC Markets through TradingView.

What is TradingView?

TradingView is a trading platform that offers real-time data, customisable charts and technical analysis tools. Its intuitive, user-friendly interface allows traders to track financial instruments easily and precisely, while the extensive library of technical indicators and drawing tools lets you analyse the latest trends and price action.

TradingView also doubles as a dynamic social network, where traders can share ideas, strategies and forecasts through public posts.

By connecting your CMC Markets Next Generation account to TradingView, you can trade with CMC Markets’ tight spreads using TradingView’s charts and analysis tools.

How to open a CMC Markets account

You must have both a CMC Markets Next Generation live account and a TradingView account before you can connect the two.

If you’d like to open an account with CMC Markets, simply follow these steps:

  1. You can open an account with us here. To get started, simply enter your email address and create a secure password.

  2. Next, choose either a CFD trading account or an FX Active account.

  1. Initially, you’ll open a demo account. If you’re new to trading or want to fine-tune your trading strategy, you can use your demo account to practise trading with $10,000 in virtual funds.

  1. When you’re ready to trade for real, open a live account in the CMC Markets desktop or mobile platform.

  1. If we approve your application, you’ll be able to sign in to your account immediately, provided that you’ve verified your email address via the link we sent to you when you signed up.

How to connect CMC Markets and TradingView

When you have your CMC Markets Next Generation live account, you can connect to it through TradingView to make trades.

Connecting to your CMC Markets account from TradingView is easy:

  1. Open a chart in TradingView. Tip: use TradingView’s search bar to navigate to the price chart of any financial market or instrument.

  1. Select Trading Panel in the bottom navigation bar and choose CMC Markets from the broker list.

  1. A pop-up window will prompt you to enter your CMC Markets login details. Click Connect, Authorise, and wait for your two accounts to be connected. This usually takes a matter of seconds. You will be asked to review and agree to CMC Markets’ Third Party Terms as part of connecting your account(s) to TradingView.

Activate market data to view stock charts in TradingView

To trade CFDs on shares with us through TradingView, you may need to activate a market data subscription in our trading platform. A market data subscription gives you access to share prices for a specific country or region. Most market data subscriptions are free, but in some cases a fee may apply.

To activate a market data subscription, log in to your live account on the CMC Markets web platform, go to Settings, then select Market Data and choose the country (or group of countries) whose stocks or share baskets you’d like to trade. A text box will then pop up. Read the on-screen information and select Activate, then Yes to agree to the subscription terms and conditions and OK to close the pop-up. You should now see a green tick next to your chosen country or countries.

If you don’t open any CFD trades on shares from the country or countries you selected, you’ll need to reactivate your market data subscription each month to see share price data in TradingView.

Within your selected chart, you can set up an alert by selecting the alarm clock icon. Choose to be notified of changes in price or volume and set a range of other variables.
