Underlying: A term used in derivatives trading, such as with CFDs . A derivative is a financial instrument whose price is based (derived) from a different asset. The underlying is the financial instrument (e.g., stock, futures, commodity, currency, index) on which a derivative's price is based.
Unemployment claims: This statistic represents the number of individuals who filed for unemployment insurance for the first time during the past week. This is the US’s earliest jobs-related economic data release.
Uptick: A price quoted that is higher than the previous quote.
